Private 2-hour tour at Fort York, Toronto's War of 1812 fort: blockhouses, barracks, magazines and the Battle of York (27 April 1813).

Illustrative destination photos. Optional extras shown are not included unless listed below.
Fort York is where Toronto's War of 1812 story comes alive, and on this private two-hour tour we take our time with it. Seven of the fort's eight historic buildings, built between 1813 and 1815, still stand, including two blockhouses that are among the oldest buildings in the city.
We walk past the barracks, the powder magazines and the earthworks, and talk through the Battle of York on 27 April 1813. You will hear why the British blew up their own magazine, and how troops, militia, First Nations allies and free Black communities took part in the defence.
Times and order are approximate and depend on traffic, weather and your group.
We meet at Fort York National Historic Site, 250 Fort York Blvd., Toronto, and confirm the exact spot by email. There is no pickup, but the 509 Harbourfront or 511 Bathurst streetcars stop close by.
General admission is free according to the City, though special exhibitions may charge.
Wednesday to Sunday, 11 AM to 4 PM, so we suggest starting between 11 AM and 2 PM.
The City's free tour lasts 45 minutes and is shared, while ours is two hours and private.
The site is mainly outdoors, so dress warmly and we will confirm the plan for your date.
There is no age rule; tell us their ages and we will confirm it suits them.
Yes, but the City asks for 14 days' notice and may charge a fee, so book early.

The site is mainly outdoors with some stairs; walkways are asphalt, portable ramps are available, and accessible washrooms are in the Visitor Centre and barracks, but the Stone and Brick Magazines are not wheelchair accessible. Please tell us about mobility needs before booking.
